In recent years IBM have taken a new approach to RPG enhancements. Rather that try to develop all the facilities that RPG developers will ever need, they have instead provided mechanisms that open the doors for other developers to enhance the language.

Open Access, for example, can be used to allow RPG to directly read IFS files, or to retrieve data from web services.

Similarly DATA-INTO allows RPG to be extended to consume any formatted data such as JSON or CSVs.
DATA-GEN does the reverse and allows you to generated formatted text data.

This session will show you how these features work and how you can use them to meet your specific business needs.
